Regular price £12.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%An amazing man who had an amazing life. The two combine to make an amazing read. If it was fiction it would seem too far fetched to be credible. The story of a man whose contribution to aviation in general, and naval aviation in particular, extended far beyond the end of WWII. A man whose world records and numerous 'firsts' will never be challenged and nor will his title of 'The World's Greatest Test Pilot'.

Winkle: The Extraordinary Life of Britain’s Greatest Pilot
Regular price £25.00 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%The daring life story and astonishing adventures of Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown - Britain's greatest-ever pilot.
Brown's extraordinary flying career saw him fight in the Battle of Britain, narrowly escape death on a torpedoed aircraft carrier, achieve a litany of new records and firsts as a test pilot, and fly more kinds of aircraft than any other pilot in history.
With a life as remarkable as his flying, Brown faced imprisonment in Germany at the outbreak of WWII, and after the Allied victory his fluent German saw him interviewing senior Nazi officials and participating in the liberation of Belsen - an experience that haunted him for the rest of his life.
A rival to Chuck Yeager and hero to astronaut Neil Armstrong, by the time of his death in 2016 Winkle Brown had become a legend in his own lifetime and a national treasure.
Drawing on Brown's own papers and fascinating new research, Paul Beaver uncovers surprising new truths and incredible achievements in the definitive account of a pilot and man who was revered around the world.

Women In Aviation By Julian Hale
Regular price £7.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%This title explores the scope of women's activities in aviation, from the time of the Wright Brothers to the present day. After highlighting the earliest female aviators, as well as the trailblazers of the inter-war period such as Amy Johnson and Amelia Earhart, the book goes on to examine the experience of women in aviation during the Second World War, including the American Women Airforce Service Pilots and those flying with the Air Transport Auxiliary. The post-war years are also covered and the title emphasizes the growth in women's participation in civil and military spheres of aviation -- by the last decades of the twentieth century, women had progressed even further, undertaking many of the jobs previously reserved for men, including space flight and combat flying. From the earliest women to obtain pilot's licenses to the female astronauts of the modern day, this is a concise introduction to the development of American and British women's roles in aviation.

World War 1 Seaplane and Aircraft Carriers. Author Mark Lardas.
Regular price £10.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%The plane had barely come of age by 1914. People were trying to grasp how best to use the new technology in general, but particularly in conjunction with all the difficulties and challenges implicit in deploying aircraft in a maritime role. Few, if any, people realised that the aircraft carrier would become the dominant weapon of the worlds oceans within just a few decades. This book details the rapid progress of technology and innovation through detailed commentary and dozens of photographs and illustrations.

WRNS By Neil R Storey
Regular price £8.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%From cooks and clerks to weapons analysts and air mechanics, generations of women have served in the Wrens (Women's Royal Naval Service or WRNS). The Royal Navy was the first of the UK armed services to admit women during the First World War with the purpose of freeing up a man to go to sea by giving his job to a trained female worker. Disbanded in 1919, the Wrens were reinstated on the outbreak of the Second World War. This book focuses on the work and experiences of Wrens during the two world wars, introducing the kinds of jobs they performed and the places where they served. It contains poignant accounts from the women themselves, along with contemporary images of the Wrens in action and modern photographs of their uniforms, badges and insignia.

You’ll Never Run a Buccaneer Out of the Boot of a Car By The Buccaneer Aviation Group
Regular price £25.00 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%The Buccaneer Aviation Group have just published a unique insight into twenty years of restoring and running their two Buccaneers, first at Bruntingthorpe and now at Cotswold Airport, Kemble.
TBAG initially produced this bookazine to record the tale of nearly 20 years of dogged determination, teamwork, innovation, spirit and self-reliance to celebrate 10 years as The Buccaneer Aviation Group on June 11th, 2021.
In 2020, when under the restrictions of the Coronavirus pandemic, TBAG were informed that all aircraft running operations at Bruntingthorpe, their home of 16 years, was to stop and their Buccaneers would face an uncertain future.
This set a timeframe for the bookazine, taking the reader from the volunteers early days at Parry's Yard, Shawbury and Bruntingthorpe through the move to Cotswold Airport and overcoming the challenges of Covid-19 to carry their first high-speed runs down the famous Kemble runway.
The first chapter sums up neatly the bookazine in its title “From Scrapyard to Serviceability”.
Anecdotes from the volunteers add colour and a personal insight into what TBAG means to them, it is their story of how they succeeded in “Running a Buccaneer out of the boot of a car.
With a foreword from Group Captain Tom Eeles who accumulated over 2000 hours in the Buccaneer, and Ken Ellis/FlyPast magazine, this A4 sized professionally drafted bookazine is produced in high quality paper with 140 full colour pages filled with many never seen before mages of TBAG at work from 2004 onwards. The images are complimented by some stunning night shoot images from TBAG photographer friends.
