The Swordfish was a truly extraordinary aircraft with a service record that few aircraft have matched. The images of LS326 and W5856 by Stephen Ward capture her in her element, prowling through troubled skies. Sentinel. Protector.

W5856 and LS326 are the last flying Fairey Swordfish in the world and your help keeps them in the air where they belong.

Produced by artist Nick Walmsley, this poster presents the side view of the iconic Sea Fury, showing off it's impressive figure in an accurate style.

The Sea Fury was the Fleet Air Arm's last piston engine fighter to serve in front line squadrons and engaged successfully in air to air combat with the much faster MiG15.

This aircraft is currently housed in the hangar of the Navy Wings Heritage Flight, and the sale of this poster will help keep this Sea Fury maintained.

An attractive poster showing the marking schemes of 5 Sea Vixen Squadrons.

The iconic Sea Vixen played an important role as a transitional design during the Cold War. Transonic and nuclear capable, this interceptor was armed with A2A missiles, but not cannon or machine guns as it was thought (erroneously as it turned out) that the day of the dogfight was over

Supplied without frame.

The Seahawk was widely regarded as being the epitome of the assertion that 'if it looks right, it'll fly right'. A beautiful and compact fighter aircraft but, due to rapid technical advances during this period, it had a relatively short service life.

WV908 was restored to flight in 1978 and was displayed by the Royal Navy Historic Flight. It is now, once again, undergoing restoration to flight in the Navy Wings Heritage Flight hangar.

Some copies are signed as a limited edition by Lt Cdr Mike Broadwater

On the 9th of August, 1952, S.Lt Brian 'Schmoo' Ellis, of 802 Naval Air Squadron was flying his Sea Fury FBII in a finger four formation over Pyongyang when his flight was bounced by several MiG 15's.

The Sea Fury was a hugely powerful piston engine aircraft, but theoretically outclassed by the jets. However, jets are at a disadvantage when dogfighting. During the melee, S.Lt Ellis famously shot down one of the MiG's and his colleagues damaged two more before they broke away to find safety to the north.

This collection is comprised of 2 items, both signed by the late Brian 'Schmoo' Ellis

1) Witty Wings Sea Fury FBII VW238/107 model (these models are no longer commercially available and so are rare in themselves)

2) Hawker Aircraft Ltd Sea Fury brochure and specifications.

A rare opportunity to own the rare signature of a man who showed how it's done!

In 1912, Tom Sopwith transitioned from running a flying school to manufacturing aircraft, leveraging his nautical interests to create designs purchased by Britain’s Royal Navy. The onset of the First World War solidified the Sopwith Aviation Company’s reputation with aircraft like the Sopwith Camel widely used onboard the ships of the day. After the war, cancellations of government orders forced Sopwith Aviation into liquidation, However, a new company, the HG Hawker Engineering Company, was quickly formed, having been named after Sopwith’s test pilot, Harry Hawker. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Hawker produced designs that continued to be purchased by the Royal Navy, being used on the early aircraft carriers as well as the larger vessels of the fleet. With the outbreak of the Second World War, the RN’s Fleet Air Arm found itself woefully unprepared for battle, having mainly biplanes and slow monoplanes with which to face the modern German fighters and bombers. As a temporary solution, Hawker adapted the Hurricane into the Sea Hurricane. Hawker later developed advanced piston-engine fighters like the Fury and its naval counterpart, the Sea Fury, which saw action during the Korean War and Suez Crisis in 1956. The Sea Fury was succeeded by Hawker’s first jet, the Sea Hawk, marking the Fleet Air Arm’s transition into the jet age. The Sea Hawk also served the Indian Navy during its conflicts with Pakistan. Hawker’s successful Hunter, although primarily for the RAF, was used by the Royal Navy for land-based operations. Meanwhile, Hawker’s next design, the ground breaking Harrier, was ordered as the Sea Harrier; it saw action during the Falklands War, and, in due course, in the conflict in the former Yugoslavia and in Iraq. From its earliest days then, the Hawker Aircraft Company has supplied winning designs to the Royal Navy and to many navies overseas, a feat that few other companies could match.

CHIPMUNK AT 80
A major new aviation title, by Ben Griffiths and Ian Black, celebrating eight decades of the de Havilland Chipmunk

The de Havilland Chipmunk is one of the most significant training aircraft in British aviation history.

Since its first flight in 1946, thousands of military and civilian pilots have taken their first steps in aviation from its cockpit, including members of the Royal Family, Air Cadets, University Air Squadron students and future airline and fast jet pilots.

Published to mark the aircraft’s 80th anniversary, Chipmunk at 80 is a premium softback photographic volume combining rare archive imagery, stunning contemporary photography and original stories from pilots, engineers, owners and instructors whose lives have been shaped by this iconic aircraft.
