The Royal Naval rum was measured in half-gill tots and variously diluted, often into a two-gill (half-pint) measure. Our measures are made in the time-honoured way - from skilfully hand-beaten brass which is copper-plated, polished and then lined with silver to neutralise taste. Practical as well as ornamental.

Eyes of the Fleet tells the story of rotary-wing AEW/ASaC in the Royal Navy over four decades. Starting with the hurried conversion of two Sea King AEW helicopters for service in the South Atlantic, this beautifully illustrated volume charts the operational career of the subsequent AEW Mk 2 and ASaC Mk 7 variants through to the final retirement of the ‘Bag’ in September 2018. It goes on to detail the development of the new Merlin Crowsnest capability.

Centuries of operating in a semi-closed and unique society has led the Senior Service to evolve its own language. The enormous scale and longevity of our Royal Navy inevitably led to this language spilling out of military confines and into general parlance. Now there are innumerable phrases in common use everyday where the original meaning and origin are lost to those who use them.

The game of Spoof (sometimes known in this version as 'Three coin') is played throughout the Royal Navy and wherever people gather. It is a simple family strategy game, but is often associated with pubs and bars, where the loser buys drinks for the other players.

Our coins feature Supermarine Seafire, Fairey Swordfish and Westland Wasp, each with the Great British Take Off logo on the reverse and in gold, silver and bronze colours.

Forgotten Few is a homage to the 57 naval pilots who flew in the Battle of Britain. For 20 years, the Admiralty and the Air Ministry did not recognise the valiant efforts of these young men – now historian Paul Beaver has compiled their biographies and explains the award of the coveted Battle of Britain clasp.

Nine of the Forgotten Few died in combat but five became aces. There is no doubt that they contributed to the ultimate victory, even though they were mostly flying their obsolete Sea Gladiator biplanes and obsolescent Fairey Fulmar. Twenty-three more pilots joined famous RAF Fighter Command squadrons and one achieved local notoriety as Douglas Bader’s wingman in fights over London.

In his endeavour, Paul has been supported by the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, the London Memorial team, the Fly Navy Heritage Trust (Navy Wings), Matthew Willis and Geoff Simpson.

Cartoonist 'Steev' humorously captures the great spirit of the aircraft and crews of the Royal Navy and Fleet Air Arm.

Steev (aka aeroengineer extraordinaire Steve George) is a great supporter of Navy Wings (he now works as a volunteer in our hangar) and all things Fleet Air Arm. We are very grateful that he has allowed us to use his fantastic artwork and a proportion of the proceeds will go to a charity of which he is a Trustee, the Fleet Air Arm Memorial Church Trust, to facilitate their new memorial walkway.

We had these Fly Navy playing cards commissioned especially for those involved in any way in the Fleet Air Arm. A deck (a little nautical reference there!) of cards is handy no matter where you are or whether you're with friends or flying solo. Escort carriers and MAC (converted merchantmen) ships made an indelible impact on the safety of the Atlantic (and Arctic) convoys and, once they were a standard part of the escort provision, almost eliminated losses by U-Boat attack.

The Fairey Swordfish proved itself to be perfectly suited to this hostile and unique environment and indeed, few aircraft types were even capable of operating in difficult weather conditions and from tiny decks.

With their open cockpits, being a member of a Swordfish crew was not for the faint hearted. Long patrols, freezing temperatures, storms and 'mother' ships that pitched and tossed as if possessed made life extraordinarily challenging.

The swatches are made of genuine pieces of fabric taken from a Fairey Swordfish and signed by the men who flew in these extraordinary and legendary aircraft on those perilous convoys.

Sadly, there are very few veterans left now.

They are from a limited edition of 50 and each is numbered and has a signature of authenticity. We have pairs numbered 10, 11, 12 and 13. We will supply as singles but, if a pair is ordered, will supply matching numbers if possible.
