This is a very rare, genuine pilot's cockpit mirror from a de Havilland Sea Vixen.
We don't need to say how rare these mirrors are (chickens have more teeth)!
This dramatically shaped mirror would look terrific on a desk or mantle shelf or in a display cabinet.
As was typical during the heady days of rapid technological development in the 50's and 60's, the numbers of each aircraft that went into service were comparatively small and active service life was relatively short. The Sea Vixen was no exception.
Very few examples remain even as museum exhibits.
The Sea Vixen was an example of the period of transition between relatively simple airframes of the early days of jet flight and the significantly more capable and advanced aircraft of later generations. A very powerful, but subsonic interceptor, it carried neither machine guns nor cannon as it was envisaged (incorrectly as it turned out) that aerial warfare had irrevocably entered the air-to-air missile age. The Sea Vixen was also capable of carrying a nuclear deterrent.
Please note that the handmade mounts and info plates may vary slightly.
