One has been commissioned through Navy Wings by HMS Queen Elizabeth for their Taranto Night celebration, there are only 200 available for public sale.

Carefully engraved with HMS Queen Elizabeth's crest, 'To the men of Taranto' and the date of the battle.

The second simply states 'To the Men of Taranto'.

The Duke of Wellington said of Waterloo, that it was 'the nearest-run thing you ever saw in your life'. The same could be said of the Falkland's Campaign in 1982. A campaign fought at a distance of over 8000 miles, apparently hopelessly outnumbered in the air (50% losses were anticipated in the first week) and on the ground and all from a completely self contained, but isolated naval battle group.

And yet.....

On June 14th, 74 days after the surprise invasion, the Union Flag flew once more over Port Stanley. While the territory was won on the ground, it couldn't have been achieved without the Sea Harriers dominating the airspace and the support of helicopters working tirelessly carrying personnel and munitions and fighting as gunships.

These quality baseball caps commemorate the brave crews who took part in the the sinking of the Bismarck, the Gallant 18 who took part in the ill-fated Channel Dash action, the heroes who fought the longest battle in the Atlantic, the fixed and rotary wing crews who saw action in so many roles in the Falklands War and those whose daring attack crippled the Italian Fleet at Taranto.

This quality polo commemorates the brave crews who took part in the gallant attack on the Bismarck and crippled her, giving the the Royal Navy the opportunity to despatch the dangerous German raider.

To mark the 80th anniversary of this historic achievement, we have commissioned a very special shirt. Above the Navy Wings logo on the right sleeve is the 'Limited Edition 80' motif. The dramatic chest motif has Bismarck 80 in the scroll and the left sleeve has the proud profile of a Fairey Swordfish above the legend 'Sink the Bismarck'.

56 Sea Harrier's were built for the Royal Navy. They were first introduced in 1978 and retired in March 2006. The design of the aircraft is optimised for air-to-air combat with secondary missions of surveillance, air-to-sea and air-to-ground attack.

The Battle of the Atlantic (1939-1945) was the longest and most complex battle of WWII. Often referred to as the Battle FOR Britain (as opposed to the Battle of Britain), it was the battle that Britain simply had to win or be strangled out of the conflict. Fairey Swordfish and MAC (Merchant Aircraft Carrier - converted merchantmen) ships played a vital role in winning the war against the U boat. 

In c.270 convoys accompanied by this redoubtable duo, there was only one successful attack on a convoy.

2023 marks the 80th anniversary of that point in the battle where Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz and the German high command recognised that their war had shifted from successful convoy predation to a point where their own losses were had become unsustainable.

The Fairey Swordfish is a biplane torpedo bomber designed by the Fairey Aviation Company. Originating in the early 1930s, the Swordfish, nicknamed "Stringbag", was operated by the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm.

Despite being obsolete by 1939, the Swordfish achieved some spectacular successes during the war. Notable events included sinking one battleship and damaging two others of the Regia Marina (the Italian Navy) during the Battle of Taranto, and the famous attack on the Bismarck, which contributed to her eventual demise. By the end of the war, the Swordfish held the distinction of having caused the destruction of a greater tonnage of Axis shipping than any other Allied aircraft. The Swordfish remained in front-line service until VE Day, having outlived multiple aircraft that had been intended to replace it in service.
