The Swordfish was a truly extraordinary aircraft with a service record that few aircraft have matched. The images of LS326 and W5856 by Stephen Ward capture her in her element, prowling through troubled skies. Sentinel. Protector.

W5856 and LS326 are the last flying Fairey Swordfish in the world and your help keeps them in the air where they belong.

Its a great painting of LS 326. I actually saw this Swordfish back in August 1968 at the Air Display at Wycombe Air Park, when I was a mere 13 years old. I was actually bold enough to go up to the pilot and get his autograph! So I must have been impressed with the Swordfish even then. The pilot was Lt. Cdr. Bob Evans.

Seeing this again in print, brings back all those lovely memories and the 'fish is still flying - well done Navy Wings!

    Memories

I was fortunate to with myself & a CPO maintain and crew this machine during 1966. We in No. 1's, flew to & displayed at the major airshows that year. At 73 yrs old now it is remembered as the fondest of memories. David.

Both W5856 and LS326, the last flying Swordfish in the world, are being carefully maintained in our hangar to respect these memories and their sterling active service. Hopefully you may get to see them at air shows this season.
